Join and Make a Difference
NARBW Chicago has several committees that carry out the work of the chapter. Each committee is lead by a chairperson who serves on the Chicago chapter board. For more information, or if you are interested in joining a committee, contact us using our contact form here.

Membership
The Membership Committee’s responsibility includes for promoting attendance at meetings and stimulating interest in the organization. This committee receives membership applications, maintains complete and up-to-date indexed membership file, which includes up-to-date contact information for all members. This committee also mails welcome packets to new members, coordinates induction ceremonies and leads recruitment efforts and hosts membership drives. In addition, the committee works with the Publications Chair and Secretary to promote membership and recruitment activities through all communication/social media channels.

Scholarship
The Scholarship Committee’s duties include stimulating interest in the Chicago chapter and national scholarship programs, sponsoring projects to benefit the programs and raising money in support of the programs. The committee also works with the Publications Chair and Secretary to promote the Scholarship Program through all channels, encourages members to submit applications and works with the Publications Chair and Secretary to promote the programs through all communication/social media channels. In addition, this committee manages the Chicago chapter scholarship program, receives and reviews scholarship applications, secures judges, forward applications to judges for scoring, and obtains bios from each recipient.
Publications
The Publications Committee is responsible for promoting Chicago chapter and news, events and initiatives. The committee’s duties include sending out monthly emails to encourage members to submit personal and professional accomplishments and working with committee chairs to obtain news items to be included in NARBW’s various communication channels. Duties also include writing, reviewing and editing submissions for NARBW’s quarterly newsletter, the Capsule. In addition, the Publication Committee manages the chapter website updates and the chapter’s social media platforms, promoting chapter news, events and initiatives on Facebook and LinkedIn.


Welfare
The Welfare Committee’s responsibilities include promoting and supporting the National Welfare Project, presenting chapter welfare projects and initiatives for board approval and leading chapter community service and volunteer efforts and activities. The committee coordinates with the Secretary and Publications chair to promote welfare initiatives, and submits an annual chapter donation and volunteer report to the National Welfare Chairperson.
Revisions
The Revisions Committee provides a copy of the chapter bylaws to each member, reviews bylaws and recommends amendments, as needed.


Nominations
This committee oversees and manages all aspects of officer elections and the National Convention delegates and Woman of the Year elections.
Public Affairs
The Public Affairs Committee keeps the members informed of proposed legislative bills and policies affecting the railroad industry, railroad retirement, and all other matters affecting the interest of the members of the Association.
